Our little family has LOTS of changes on the horizon. Leon has been offered a new job with the Department of Homeland Security, and his post will be in Western WA. He got the call on August 7 telling him that he is to report to duty on August 20!!! Although he began the application process (which by the way, was extremely extensive....you all can sleep soundly at night knowing that our borders should be guarded quite well, as the government intensely screens their applicants with rigorous background, physical checks, etc.) months ago, we never knew when the call would come, or where he would be offered a job. We would not necessarily have chosen to move away from our family and friends here, but wanted to be open to the option as well (you know the saying..."You go where the work is" --- especially in this economy, right?).
SOOO, what this means in our near future:
Leon will have 2 days of orientation in W. Wash, and then he leaves for New Mexico, where the Training Academy is. He is scheduled to be there until mid-January. After that, he will have a temporary (10 months) training post somewhere on the southern border to further his training. After that is complete, he will return to W. Wash. In the mean time, the boys and I will stay here, and I will feverishly work to get our home ready to sell.
As far as what this means for our long-term future, we are still learning a lot of the details ourselves. Leon has been told that he will be working in W. Wash. at the end of his training, so we are looking forward to relocating and getting settled into a new community. This blog will be a GREAT way for our family and close friends to get updates on what Leon is doing while away at training, as well as a way for me to keep Leon updated with lots of photos and videos of the boys while he is gone.
We so appreciate all of the support from our wonderful family and friends during this time of change and transition!
